Have you ever wondered what the term global warming means and what effects it has upon your life and the earth? Global warming is caused by the emission of green house gases which include; carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide. Carbon dioxide emissions have been the major contributors to this process. It is sad to note that carbon dioxide emission is inevitable and is created by burning of fuels like gas, petrol and many other fuels which are part of our daily activities. Carbon dioxide emissions have drastically increased over the past decade. These levels of carbon dioxide being released in the atmosphere are increasing at an alarming rate and are a cause of concern.
Most of these gases released into the atmosphere remain there for 100 to 200 years. Increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide leads to a decrease in the earths average temperatures. Although these records and observations are being put forward by geologists, very little concern is being shown by developed countries. The major contributors to global warming are manufacturing industries and motor vehicles. Despite all this we should acknowledge that great efforts are being done by various organizations in the bid to stop this global threat. In some countries the use of cars that do not emit carbon dioxide is being encouraged.
