A survey conducted by Simplyhealth shows that most of the employers accept that it is their responsibility to provide dental health benefits to their employees, but fail to take action in this regard. The survey questioned over 250 HR managers and directors from companies across the UK.

The exercise, named as the Simplyhealth Annual Dental Survey, showed that 71% of the employers believe that they should be providing a dental health scheme to the staff while only about 56% actually do so.

It also indicated that most of the companies believe there are some important advantages that they can derive out of providing these benefits. 64% of the respondents said that such schemes can play an important role in improving staff morale. 56% felt that they would help reduce leaves due to sickness, while 54% said that these schemes can help in not only retaining employees but also in hiring new ones.

Despite these advantages, many companies fail to put a proper dental health benefit plan in place. This dichotomy is explained by the fact that most companies find the dental health schemes costly and complex to implement.

However, James Glover, Corporate Director at Simplyhealth, said that the companies should not only look at the benefits to the employees, but should also keep in mind the savings that they can derive from these schemes through reduced sickness leaves, better monitoring of leaves taken for dental appointments and staff retention. He urged the employers to ensure that these mutually beneficial facilities are provided to the employees.

Employers, now more than ever need to arm themselves with the right advice and training though the direction of experts in the field. Workplace Law Training run a range of highly regarded CPP courses that could be just the ticket for you.
