The global warming causes Friday, May 30 2008

The term global warming refers to the increase in the average temperature of Earth’s surface. Research shows that the temperature has already increased from .7 to 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit since the late eighteen hundreds. Scientists speculate that by the year 2100 the temperature will rise another 2.5 to 10.4 degree Fahrenheit. Scientists warn that humans and the ecosystem are incapable of adapting to the drastic climate changes. It is believed that the change is influenced by human activities. The Kyoto Protocol, a protocol with the objective of reducing greenhouse gases that change the climate, was created on December 11th 1997.

Research states that human activities are the main cause for most of the warming. Human activities enhance the planet’s natural greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect in return contributes to the warming of the Earth’s surface. Burning fossil fuels and clearing the land are the two main human activities believed to contribute to global warming. Fossil fuels are released from factories, automobiles, and power plants that power homes and office buildings. As the fuel is burned it releases carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide slows down the heat from escaping into space. The clearing of land results in a decrease rate in which gas is removed from the atmosphere.

Broadband Features Available

The variety of Internet service providers available is growing as the Internet makes its way into more homes in America. This proliferation of ISP providers makes it difficult to decide which ISP you should subscribe to. To make matters more confusing, most offer a huge list of benefits to entice customers away from their current ISP. What follows is some information on the kind of features that should be available with any good ISP.

Security is of uppermost concern. With new viruses invading the Internet everyday, virus protection is a must. A virus blocker is a critical feature for any ISP. Many offer a pop up blocker, too, and this is also a good thing. The ads from pop up blockers can be harmful to your computer in addition to being extremely annoying. This is why ISPs are beginning to have features that not only speed up customer’s computer but also make their Internet experience more enjoyable. A good ISP will also have tools to protect your children while they are on the Internet by providing parent-controlled blocks for blocking unwanted adult material.

You will also want to have multiple e-mail accounts. This is so common that most ISPs now offer between 5 and 10 e-mail accounts to each subscriber. Now everyone in the family can have their own email account. This way, parents don’t have to scroll through a long list of messages and forwards from their children’s friends, and children don’t have to skip over their parent’s business emails. This is definitely the best solution for families. Finding an ISP with plenty of accounts gives you the option of having family accounts, business accounts and personal accounts.

If you have always dreamed of having your own web page, you may be able to get one without any unwanted ads. This is due to the fact that many ISP now offer free web space as part of their standard package. This space may be more limited in size than other free web spaces. A good ISP will often have templates and special tools such as counters to help you create the perfect web site. Since some ISPs will not allow you to use a free web site for your business, it is important to check with them about the parameters of free web site use.

Another important feature of your ISP should be the opportunity to use it with multiple computers in your home. This service could be free, but may cost you some kind of fee. However, the freedom it provides is worth it. Parents can access things for work online, while at the same time, your son is doing research for a school assignment. The point is that whatever features are important; you should be able to find an ISP that has them. The key is doing your homework on the various ISPs. This is the best way to find the features that you need at a price you can afford.

Test Your Communication Style Sunday, May 25 2008

Communication is one of the most important qualities for success. To communicate is not simple. We think that to speak and to hear is communication. But it is much more than that. When you listen to somebody, ask yourself these questions - are you totally attentive to him/her? Are you attentive to the tone of voice? Are you keeping eye contact? Do you observe the body language? Are you giving responses in between so that the speaker knows that you rare listening? Are you getting the hidden meaning behind the communication? In brief, are you getting precisely what the other person is saying?

What about your speech? What kind of tone do you adopt? What is the speed of your speech? Are you using the correct words? How are you coordinating your body language with your words? Are you getting the attention of your listener? Are you able to convey what you want to? Are you sure that the listener is getting your message?

Many of us are poor communicators. We don’t know how to talk and listen effectively. We fail to draw the listener’s attention towards our self. We fail to listen fully. There lies our failure in many business and personal situations.

Please test your communication style. Talk to few of your friends and ask them questions about your style. Note what they say very carefully and bring changes. Talk to them again after few days and reassess yourself. Keep improving. Notice the best speakers on television. Watch their body movements and tonality of voice. Observe them carefully. Good communication will bring unbelievable success to you.

Global Warming - Its Effects And Dangers Wednesday, May 7 2008

Have you ever wondered what the term global warming means and what effects it has upon your life and the earth? Global warming is caused by the emission of green house gases which include; carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide. Carbon dioxide emissions have been the major contributors to this process. It is sad to note that carbon dioxide emission is inevitable and is created by burning of fuels like gas, petrol and many other fuels which are part of our daily activities. Carbon dioxide emissions have drastically increased over the past decade. These levels of carbon dioxide being released in the atmosphere are increasing at an alarming rate and are a cause of concern.

Most of these gases released into the atmosphere remain there for 100 to 200 years. Increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide leads to a decrease in the earths average temperatures. Although these records and observations are being put forward by geologists, very little concern is being shown by developed countries. The major contributors to global warming are manufacturing industries and motor vehicles. Despite all this we should acknowledge that great efforts are being done by various organizations in the bid to stop this global threat. In some countries the use of cars that do not emit carbon dioxide is being encouraged.
